Bruce Coulson, CEO

CEO

Bruce is a passionate childcare industry professional, starting up the Kool Kids Early Learning Centres in the early 2000’s. After successfully building a great network of centres on the Gold Coast, Bruce believed that the industry could do better in its training and started Kool Kids Training College in 2012.

Sam Hendry, College Manager

Sam Hendry

College Manager

Sam commenced with the training college at the start of 2014 and is responsible for the overall operations and strategic direction of the college. Sam’s background is in leaderships positions with some of the world’s largest technology companies. He is committed to ensuring every student’s experience at the college is an awesome one and that KKTC becomes the no 1 RTO in children’s services in Australia.

Sam has a Bachelor of Business (RMIT) and Grad Cert in Management (Deakin).

Adam Murphy, Head of Compliance and Student Services

Adam Murphy

Head of Compliance and Student Services

Adam joined KKTC in June 2017 as Head of Compliance and Student Services.

The role is all encompassing, leading a team of dedicated trainers and ensuring the college meets its training obligations.

Adam has an extensive background in roles such as Operational Management, Project Management, Compliance, Training and Development and Business Development.

He has been in the RTO sector for 10+ years and has held leadership positions during this time.

He has Advanced Diplomas in Leadership and Management, Human Resources, Management, Business and Certificate IV TAE 40110.

Samantha Brown, Compliance Officer

Compliance Officer

Samantha commenced with KKTC at the beginning of 2015 with the compliance function and leadership of the training team her key responsibilities. Samantha has an extensive background in the RTO sector in Queensland, most recently working with the mining sector.

Student Services and Compliance Officer

Kym commenced with KKTC at the beginning of 2017 to support the compliance function of the training college. Kym has been in the RTO sector for the past 16 years so brings a wealth of experience to the college.

Sharon Stewart

Financial Controller

Sharon commenced with Kool Kids Early Learning Centres in mid 2000's and has a track record of financial management in the sector over many years. in the role of financial controller, Sharon ensures the college funding submissions and obligations as an RTO are soundly managed.

Sonja Hartley, Trainer/Assessor

Sonja has worked in the childcare industry for the past twenty-five years and holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

During her career Sonja has worked with various ages in long day care centres, as a preschool teacher in an independent school and as a family day care coordinator.

Sonja holds a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), an Associate Diploma in Social Science and a Certificate III in Understanding Children.

In recent years Sonja has been employed as a workplace trainer and she is passionate about helping students understand the importance of a strong social and emotional foundation in the early years.

Reisha Decke, Trainer/Assessor

Reisha has recently joined our team and comes from an Early Childhood background for the past 25 years. She has worked as a Director for 10 years and then joined the training sector and has been training for the past 6 years, where she has experience in workplace delivery and most recently classroom delivery.

With a Bachelor in Early Childhood, a Diploma in Early Childhood and a Cert IV in TAE, she has acquired skills and knowledge to share and educate upcoming students who are wanting to pursue a career in this industry and become the best educators they can be.

Having lived on the Gold Coast and Cairns, where also working in childcare centres, she is passionate about sharing knowledge and experience to her students, and to see them achieve their goals and graduate in their chosen course.

Alison Lamb, Trainer/Assessor

Alison has been in the Early Childhood Industry for 30 years in a variety of roles throughout Queensland.

She holds a Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood and Bachelor of Education majoring in Early Childhood and a Certificate IV in TAE and TAELLN.

She is a qualified Justice of the Peace.

Alison has been involved with the Caboolture Toastmasters club since 2015, which have helped her to be the best presenter she can be.

Alison has worked in preschools, primary schools, long day care and outside school hours care environments.

She has trained authorised officers in the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care on Education and Care Services regulatory changes and was involved in  the initial development and trialling of the Early Years Learning Framework.

Alison is passionate about her role as a trainer (10 years) and strives to give students the best learning experience possible.

She just loves to see that ‘lightbulb’ moment occur throughout a student’s learning journey.

Janine Gane, Trainer/Assessor

Starting in the childcare industry in 1993, Janine has over 20 years' experience, with a Certificate IV (TAE) in Training and Assessment. Advanced Diploma, Diploma and Certificate III in Child Care.

Her roles over her career have been varied; from working with babies, and all age groups in Long Day Care, to managing and training staff as a Non-Contact Director of Long Day Care to training and assessing Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services through both Online (E – Learning) and Classroom based learning.

Janine works closely with our school based students.

Karen McPhail, Trainer/Assessor

Starting in the childcare industry in 1991, Karen has over 22 years' experience, with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

Her roles over her career have been varied; from working with babies, and all age groups in Long Day Care, to managing and training staff as both a Contact and Non-Contact Director of Long Day Care. Karen also holds her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).

Karen works closely with our centre based students.

Karin Lesage  - Trainer & Assessor Brisbane

Karin has worked in the early childhood industry for 29 years. She has worked in many and varied roles that have encompassed business, operations and organisational management. Her training experience includes content writing, classroom- and industry delivery, First aid- and CPR training as well as Emergency Asthma Management and Anaphylaxis Awareness training.

She holds a Masters in HR Management, Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Associate Diploma of Children’s Services, Certificate lV in TAE, Certificate lV in Small Business Management.

Jackie Atkins - Trainer/Assessor

Jackie joined KKTC in February 2015 and has worked in the Early Childhood Industry for 27 years working alongside the Industries ‘best of the best’. Her career spans from working with children from infancy to school age, both as an Early Childhood Educator, a Primary School Teacher, High School Educator and a Lecturer in Early Childhood. Jackie enjoys the positive relationship of working with students to ensure that they are supported, nurtured and given every opportunity to be a successful learner. Jackie plays an integral role in ensuring that KKTC students are given the opportunity to explore their chosen career path, identify their passion and work towards their goals within Early Childhood Industry.

She holds a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood in-Service) Associate Diploma of Children's Services and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Tamara Whitehead

Tamara has a certificate IV (TAE) in training and assessment and has 20 years experience in the child care industry. During those years she has worked as an assistant right through to director and also as a long day care validator for NCAC. Tamara holds an Advanced Diploma, Diploma and certificate III in child care and her most recent roles have included classroom based and on the job training.

She is passionate about developing high quality early childhood programs and aims to help you to build strong foundation of how to support children’s learning as you start your journey as an Educator.

Samantha Gillett

Samantha has worked in Early Childhood industry for 23 years plus in various roles such as director, owner operator for long day care service, training and assessing trainees and classroom students for the past 10 years. During her career Samantha has worked with some indigenous communities mainly in Southern NSW and ACT offering training and support on various employment projects. She has held positions as Recruiting Manager in placing educators into the sector. Samantha loves visiting centres and creating those essential relationships with trainees and supervisors to deliver quality training outcomes.

Samantha has a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education), Diploma Children’s Services, Certificate III Children’s Services, Associate Diploma Social Science (Child Care) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).

Meaghan Westwood

Meaghan has worked in the Early childhood sector for 29 years. She has worked in varied roles within the industry, including Assistant Educator, Lead Educator, Assistant Director, Director and administration roles. Meaghan moved into the training and assessing industry in 1999 and has delivered training via classroom delivery, face to face training, on the job training and Professional Development workshops.

Meaghan’s qualifications include Associate Diploma in Children’s Services, Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and Certificate IV Training and Assessment.

Meaghan’s passion is being able to support and encourage students to reach their goals with their studies in the Early Childhood sector and to build relationships with services to ensure educational programs are of the highest quality for children.

Kandis moved to Townsville from Sydney 5 years ago and hasn't looked back. She loves the Townsville lifestyle and being part of a growing and vibrant community. Kandis is a passionate educator and has been working within the Early Childhood sector for the past 8 years. Kandis has had the pleasure of delivering training to many aspiring early educators over the past 3 years and has worked extensively to create change within the training sector. A highlight of her career was when Kandis was part of teaching program in Cambodia in which she facilitated new educators and taught disadvantaged children that ran for several years.

Kandis has been trained as a Primary School teacher and holds her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, a Diploma of Youth Work and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Ashleigh Wright, Trainer/Assessor - Townsville

Ashleigh has had five years experience educating and caring for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. During this time Ashleigh was employed as a lead educator and the highlight of this role was inspiring and supporting a team of passionate educators to ensure the best outcomes for all children in a holistic manner.

Ashleigh decided to take her passion and enter into Vocational Education and Training and has spent much of the last 3 years delivering the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and School Age Education and Care.

The most rewarding aspect of her role to date has been facilitating training for a large class of ESL students and witnessing the personal and professional outcomes these students achieved.

Ashleigh has also developed and facilitated a number of professional development workshops for students and the wider community. Ashleigh has also assisted with curriculum writing, classroom coordination and course delivery structure and content. Ashleigh has extensive experience supporting people with a disability and is very passionate about ensuring inclusion in all aspects of their life.

Ashleigh holds a Certificate lll and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing.

Renee Twindley, Trainer/Assessor – Nth NSW

Renee has dedicated over 17 years to the Early Childhood sector. She has worked in a variety of settings which includes Long Day Care, Preschool, and was previously the Director of a large Family Day Care Scheme.

Renee is very passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences with students entering and engaging with children in the industry.

Renee holds a Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood, a Diploma of Children’s Services, a Certificate III in Children’s Services and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Yoko Jenkins, Trainer/Assessor - Cairns

Yoko came to Australia in 2007 to look for a new adventure after being a qualified librarian working at a University library in Tokyo for 3 years.

While travelling around Australia, Yoko decided to join the early learning sector which she believes has been ‘the best choice ever!’

She has been working within the Early Childhood sector since 2008 and moved into the training and assessment industry in 2015.

She has experience in delivering via classroom and face to face delivery, also remote training to distance based students.

Yoko holds a Bachelor of Arts English Literature, Diploma of Children’s services, Certificate III in Children’s Services and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Pauline has been in the Early Childhood industry for the past 24 years. Pauline ran a local Gold Coast child care centre for 17 years before extending her passion and knowledge to become a Trainer and Assessor. Pauline has been sharing her knowledge and skills with students of all ages for the past 5 years. It is the joy and fulfillment to see students grow and flourish through their course, that sees Pauline committed and passionate about the future of the early education and care sector. Pauline holds an Advanced Diploma and TAE.
