Bruce Coulson, CEO

Bruce is a passionate childcare industry professional, starting up the Kool Kids Early Learning Centres in the early 2000’s. After successfully building a great network of centres on the Gold Coast, Bruce believed that the industry could do better in its training and started Kool Kids Training College in 2012.

Sam Hendry, Commercial Director

Sam commenced with the training college at the start of 2014 and is responsible for the overall operations and strategic direction of the college. Sam’s background is in leaderships positions with some of the world’s largest technology companies. He is committed to ensuring every student’s experience at the college is an awesome one and that KKTC becomes the no 1 RTO in children’s services in Australia.

Sam has a Bachelor of Business (RMIT) and Grad Cert in Management (Deakin).

Samantha Brown, Compliance Officer

Samantha commenced with KKTC at the beginning of 2015 with the compliance function and leadership of the training team her key responsibilities. Samantha has an extensive background in the RTO sector in Queensland, most recently working with the mining sector.

Sharon Stewart

Financial Controller

Sharon commenced with Kool Kids Early Learning Centres in mid 2000's and has a track record of financial management in the sector over many years. in the role of financial controller, Sharon ensures the college funding submissions and obligations as an RTO are soundly managed.

Janine Gane, Trainer/Assessor

Starting in the childcare industry in 1993, Janine has over 20 years' experience, with a Certificate IV (TAE) in Training and Assessment. Advanced Diploma, Diploma and Certificate III in Child Care.

Her roles over her career have been varied; from working with babies, and all age groups in Long Day Care, to managing and training staff as a Non-Contact Director of Long Day Care to training and assessing Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services through both Online (E – Learning) and Classroom based learning.

Janine works closely with our school based students.

Karen McPhail, Trainer/Assessor

Starting in the childcare industry in 1991, Karen has over 22 years' experience, with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

Her roles over her career have been varied; from working with babies, and all age groups in Long Day Care, to managing and training staff as both a Contact and Non-Contact Director of Long Day Care. Karen also holds her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).

Karen works closely with our centre based students.

Karin Lesage  - Trainer/Assessor

Karin has worked in the early childhood industry for 29 years. She has worked in many and varied roles that have encompassed business, operations and organisational management. Her training experience includes content writing, classroom- and industry delivery, First aid- and CPR training as well as Emergency Asthma Management and Anaphylaxis Awareness training.

She holds a Masters in HR Management, Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Associate Diploma of Children’s Services, Certificate lV in TAE, Certificate lV in Small Business Management.

Jackie Atkins - Trainer/Assessor

Jackie joined KKTC in February 2015 and has worked in the Early Childhood Industry for 27 years working alongside the Industries ‘best of the best’. Her career spans from working with children from infancy to school age, both as an Early Childhood Educator, a Primary School Teacher, High School Educator and a Lecturer in Early Childhood. Jackie enjoys the positive relationship of working with students to ensure that they are supported, nurtured and given every opportunity to be a successful learner. Jackie plays an integral role in ensuring that KKTC students are given the opportunity to explore their chosen career path, identify their passion and work towards their goals within Early Childhood Industry.

She holds a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood in-Service) Associate Diploma of Children's Services and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Tamara Whitehead

Tamara has a certificate IV (TAE) in training and assessment and has 20 years experience in the child care industry. During those years she has worked as an assistant right through to director and also as a long day care validator for NCAC. Tamara holds an Advanced Diploma, Diploma and certificate III in child care and her most recent roles have included classroom based and on the job training.

She is passionate about developing high quality early childhood programs and aims to help you to build strong foundation of how to support children’s learning as you start your journey as an Educator.

Samantha Gillett

Samantha has worked in Early Childhood industry for 23 years plus in various roles such as director, owner operator for long day care service, training and assessing trainees and classroom students for the past 10 years. During her career Samantha has worked with some indigenous communities mainly in Southern NSW and ACT offering training and support on various employment projects. She has held positions as Recruiting Manager in placing educators into the sector. Samantha loves visiting centres and creating those essential relationships with trainees and supervisors to deliver quality training outcomes.

Samantha has a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education), Diploma Children’s Services, Certificate III Children’s Services, Associate Diploma Social Science (Child Care) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).

Meaghan Westwood

Trainer & Assessor – Brisbane

Meaghan has worked in the Early childhood sector for 29 years. She has worked in varied roles within the industry, including Assistant Educator, Lead Educator, Assistant Director, Director and administration roles. Meaghan moved into the training and assessing industry in 1999 and has delivered training via classroom delivery, face to face training, on the job training and Professional Development workshops.

Meaghan’s qualifications include Associate Diploma in Children’s Services, Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and Certificate IV Training and Assessment.

Meaghan’s passion is being able to support and encourage students to reach their goals with their studies in the Early Childhood sector and to build relationships with services to ensure educational programs are of the highest quality for children.

Kandis Orr

Kandis moved to Townsville from Sydney 5 years ago and hasn't looked back. She loves the Townsville lifestyle and being part of a growing and vibrant community. Kandis is a passionate educator and has been working within the Early Childhood sector for the past 8 years. Kandis has had the pleasure of delivering training to many aspiring early educators over the past 3 years and has worked extensively to create change within the training sector. A highlight of her career was when Kandis was part of teaching program in Cambodia in which she facilitated new educators and taught disadvantaged children that ran for several years.

Kandis has been trained as a Primary School teacher and holds her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, a Diploma of Youth Work and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Kym commenced with KKTC at the beginning of 2017 to support the compliance function of the training college. Kym has been in the RTO sector for the past 16 years so brings a wealth of experience to the college.
