Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care

The CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is a qualification that covers workers who use organisation policies, procedure and individual children’s profiles to plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Students will learn to support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children's learning and development. This qualification will enable direct supervision or autonomous work activity in a range of child care facilities such as full day care centres, occasional care facilities, crèches and early learning centres as an Early Childhood Educator.

The course features a work placement component (a minimum of 120 hours) that:

  • Strengthens experience of the workplace to support future expectations of performance in the workforce
  • Develops practical skills and the application of knowledge within the workplace to promote stronger embedding of learning
  • Provides exposure to real workplace situations and circumstances which cannot be replicated in a learning environment / simulation.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

The CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is a qualification that covers workers in Children's Services who are responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. At this level workers often have responsibility of other staff, students or volunteers and in some states may also be able to be employed as directors or service managers.
