Michelle has over 10 years experience working in Early Childhood Education and Care, completing her Certificate III in Children’s Services in 2006 via a traineeship, and then went on to complete her Diploma of Children’s Services in 2010, also via a traineeship. Both of these qualifications gave Michelle the opportunity to complete hands on learning whilst studying where her trainer would come out monthly to visit and support with on the job learning. During her years in the sector, Michelle has worked as a Room Assistant, Room Leader, Educational Leader, Assistant Centre Manager and finally as a Centre Manager. Throughout her career Michelle has worked across all age groups, but predominately in the Nursery room.
In 2016 Michelle completed her Cert IV in Training and Assessment and started working at Monash University in Melbourne where she was a classroom-based trainer, teaching Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualifications.
In 2017 Michelle upskilled her qualification to complete her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and also upskilled to the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Assessment.
Michelle is extremely passionate about the early years as the early years are fundamental to children’s growth, development, and their learning. Both of Michelle’s children were in Long Day Care from a very early age, my daughter, Maddi at 4.5 months old and my son, Jaxx at 6 months old. She is a huge advocate for Early Childhood, it takes someone truly special to help ensure each child is thriving and learning in a home away from home environment, to care for and nurture each child as if they were their own.
Michelle enjoys being an Early Childhood Trainer and Assessor as she gets the opportunity to support, guide and mentor students who are just as passionate about Early Childhood as she is! Michelle says “It’s important that I build a strong relationship with my students from the start and for them to know that I will be there from start to finish, that I will be one of their biggest supporters and I will strive to ensure that their learning journey is a positive and fun experience.”
She adds “As a Trainer and Assessor, it is important to recognise that everyone learns differently and at different paces, but the outcome is the same, which is to complete their qualification. I want my students to know that I will be there, every step of the way, to help them overcome any challenges that they may face, offer extra support where necessary, help break down the content and to come up with learning strategies to help them through their learning journey. My favourite quote would have to be, no one is you, and that is your biggest power.”
Michelle commenced with KKTC in June 2022.
