Investment Represents our Confidence in Vocational Education and in Southport

The recent 2021 Muval Index which showed more Aussies are moving to Southport than any other area in Queensland. With increased migration there is a natural growth in the demand for childcare and by association training in the sector,” he said.

“This is an 8 year journey to where we are today. From a start up RTO we have come a long way and we now support hundreds of centres and thousands of students from Melbourne to Cairns and in between.”

“Our Mayor Tom Tate often talks about the Gold Coast as Australia’s Favourite Classroom and we firmly believe our State of the Art Classroom(s) will be a favourite for students wanting to embark on a career in Early Childhood Education and Care,” Sam said.

“COVID-19 has been a ‘gut punch’ to our sector and has seen many educational institutions hit the wall. We have had to pivot across all States where we train, notably during lockdowns but thankfully we are a fully Cloud based RTO and have a resilient cohort of students who have continued to front up and progress with their training regardless of the troubled waters COVID-19 presents.”

“We remain positive about the future and this investment is reflective of that confidence,” Sam said.

‘Teach Out’ Extended to 20 January 2023

After much lobbying from the sector of which KKTC was very active in presenting the case to regulators, ASQA has recently approved an extended transition period for the Early Childhood Education & Care qualifications our college offers to educators in your team.

  • The extended training, assessment and certification issuance period for the CHC30113 and CHC50113 qualifications ends on 20 January 2023.
Decision to extend based on learners found to be “genuinely disadvantaged”

The decision means registered training organisations (RTOs) like KKTC will now have an additional six months to support students who commenced their studies under the old curriculum to finish before the new curriculum commences and in turn avoid needing to complete additional units and adhere to any other new requirements.

ASQA also confirmed that the decision to extend the transition period was made with support from SkillsIQ (in their role as the Skills Service Organisation for the CHC Business Training Package) who were able to demonstrate that learners would be genuinely disadvantaged if they were required to transition to the replacement qualification.

73 Weeks to Complete

The ASQA announcement effectively means there are 73 weeks left for students to complete their assessments.

Kool Kids Training College has built a ‘Completion Timeframe Application’ that outlines students’ time lines over this period and assesses any student who is being signed up to ensure they will have enough time to complete before the 20th January 2023 cut off (based on pre-existing credits).  We will be using this to help employers navigate this teach out period and give precise advice on the educators’ completion timeline.
